As many of us have been at home focusing on isolating and keeping our distance, we have heard from a number of you asking about what kind of treatments you can do while at home.  We also know that as we slowly open up, some patients may not feel comfortable venturing out right away and may be looking for options over the coming months.  Thankfully, there is a lot that we can do while we are home, but what you should start with depends on the cause of your hair loss and what treatments you may or may not already be using.   So let’s look at a few different scenarios and what could be some good options for you.

Have Not Had A Consultation Yet

For anyone that has not had a consultation yet, we would recommend scheduling one ASAP.  We are still conducting all consultations virtually and they have really worked out well.  Even our staff was a little hesitant to do virtual consultations at first, because of the concern that they would miss something in their evaluation of the patient, however, we are able to do a very thorough evaluation and get patients started on some sort of treatment that they would otherwise be holding off.  Lastly, it is important to remember that most types of hair loss are progressive, so the longer you wait the worse your condition will get.  It is always easier to prevent further loss than regrow what has been lost.

All Patients

If you are not on a vitamin or supplement routine and you are concerned about the health of your hair, you really should be.  We pretty much recommend that all of our patients get on a supplement and vitamin routine as our diet and nutritional intake play such an important role in the health of our hair.  We have a few different options (LOCKrx, Nutrafol, Viviscal) that we recommend to our patients and depending on your needs and current diet we would be able to recommend an appropriate plan.

Patients Currently Waiting for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy or Optimal Platelet Concentration (OPC) Therapy

We have had a number of patients that have had their PRP or OPC series and boosters delayed or disrupted due to the shutdown.  Many of these patients could be really good candidates for Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), such as a LaserCap, and at home micro-needling, such as the LOCKrx Growth Factor 3X and Micro Channel program.  These are great treatments that the patient can continue to utilize and get benefit from even when they are able to continue their PRP or OPC treatments.

Before starting any new treatment it is always important to speak with a female hair loss expert that can make sure the treatment is appropriate and the best option for you.  Our staff is still available for phone or virtual appointments if you have any concerns about your hair or are looking into new treatment options.
