Patient History & Goals

Katherine was a new patient at the Boston, MA Medi Tresse office. She was concerned about experiencing hair loss at such a young age.

During the previous year, Katherine had tried various supplements and a single Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy session but feels that her hair loss has continued. Katherine’s goal of treatment is to regrow as much hair loss as possible and due to her age, she wants to make sure she can stop the further progression of hair loss.

Based on her patient history and physical examination, Katherine was diagnosed with androgenic alopecia, or Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL).

Medi Tresse Treatments & Solutions for Androgenic Alopecia Diagnosis

With all of our treatments, we have three main goals: stop further loss, make the hair you have thicker and healthier, and if possible regrow hair. We like to remind all of our patients that attaining any of these goals is a success.

While Katherine had tried PRP Therapy before and felt she was not seeing results, the team felt with the advanced protocols at Medi Tresse that a similar treatment could still work for her.

Exclusively offered by Medi Tresse, this Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy is a more advanced version of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy. Like PRP Therapy, this procedure relies on platelet-rich plasma to fight hair loss. However, utilizing advanced technology our team is able to personalize the treatment for each patient to better ensure the patient is receiving the optimal platelet concentration injected into the scalp to support blood vessels and hair restoration.

OPC Therapy is a simple in-office procedure that takes less than an hour. The initial treatment series requires 3 treatments over 3 months. During the treatment, the practitioner will determine the patient’s baseline platelet count, which will be used to customize the treatment. A simple blood draw is conducted and the blood is spun in a centrifuge, to separate the platelet-rich plasma. Once the platelet-rich plasma is optimized for the patient, it is injected into the scalp. OPC Therapy has been shown to improve hair thickness and stimulate regrowth.

OPC Therapy is available at the following Medi Tresse locations: Boston, Worcester, Westchester, and New York City.
