No Shave FUE vs. Traditional FUE
No Shave FUE, or Follicular Unit Extraction, has quickly become one of the most popular methods for hair transplants. The original Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method became popularized in the 2000’s as a less painful method than the original Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) method, also known as the strip method. Unlike the strip method where a strip of scalp is removed and then the follicles are split up, with the FUE method, follicles are removed one at a time using a small punch.
This meant there was no linear scar in the donor area making the hair transplant less noticeable, especially for those with shorter hair. However, the one downside to the FUE method is the need to completely shave the donor area to perform the extraction. For patients with longer hair, this would often lead to an awkward haircut until the hair grew back. No Shave FUE avoids this problem altogether.
