Patient History & Goals for Androgenic Alopecia in Westchester, NY
Alex was a new patient to the Medi Tresse Scarsdale, NY office. Her hair loss gradually started approximately 10 years ago. Her concern was that her hair would grow inconsistently and have periods of shedding that reverses the growth. She also has thin hair and would use hair powder to conceal it.
In the past, Alex tried Vegamour and biotin supplements, as well as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. She came to Medi Tresse seeking a solution to regrow her hair and stop the periods of shedding, as well as increase the overall density of her hair. She booked her initial consultation and was diagnosed with androgenic alopecia, which is also known as Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL).
FPHL is the most common cause of hair thinning and hair miniaturization. Hair follicle miniaturization is when the follicle is constricted and therefore produces thinner hair shafts that easily fall out. If not treated, the affected hair will continue to get smaller and disappear completely.
