At Medi Tresse we strive to offer our patients the most innovative treatment options that are not only effective, but affordable as well. One of the best treatment options for many of the types of hair loss that we treat is Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). LLLT includes the use of lasercap devices for hair loss. During your initial consultation, we can help choose the best treatment option for you.

What is a lasercap device for hair loss?

LLLT laser cap therapy utilizes energy from cool beam lasers to stimulate cellular activity around the hair follicle cells and encourage growth. LLLT laser cap devices also help to decrease inflammation and increase circulation so that existing hairs can grow thicker and stronger.

Studies have shown that up to 95% of patients using LLLT had hair shafts that were both more numerous and thicker. We can safely use these lasers to promote hair restoration for patients with Androgenic Alopecia (Female Pattern Hair Loss), Traction Alopecia, Scarring Alopecia, and Telogen Effluvium. See an example in our Worcester, MA case study below:

LLLT studies have shown that the optimal amount of energy needed during a LLLT treatment is 4 joules/cm2, which can only be accomplished when the device has the proper type of laser diodes, the proper amount of laser diodes, and is used for the proper treatment times.  Unfortunately, many of the devices now on the market are not meeting the recommended energy levels.

Steer clear of cheap knock-offs of lasercap devices.

Be wary of cheaper, low-quality laser cap devices for hair loss that are currently flooding the market. The biggest concerns we have seen with some of these knock of these cheaper brands:

Low or poor quality

Many copycat devices come from manufacturers with low or poor quality control prior to selling them on the market.

Low or poor strength

Double check the strength and light delivery components of the laser cap device before purchasing. These devices can provide low or poor strength, or uneven output.

Limited or no warranties

Buying a copycat or any random laser cap device can result in a limited or no warranty at all. Be sure that you are receiving a lifetime or decent time frame for a warranty when purchasing.

Incomplete Coverage

Some knock off, off brand laser cap devices do not offer full scalp coverage or need to be moved around during the treatment.  As compliance is the most important part of using a LLLT laser cap device, compliance tends to increase when the device is easy to use.

If you are experiencing hair loss, and prior to purchasing a low level laser therapy device, it is important to be properly evaluated by a hair loss specialist that can provide a true diagnosis for the type of hair loss you are experiencing. We can ensure that LLLT is the best option for you.

How can I get a lasercap device for hair loss?

It’s important to meet with a hair loss specialist before choosing to purchase any LLLT device. Our Medi Tresse staff are all medical professionals who can help you determine if the laser cap device is the right fit for you during your initial consultation.

At Medi Tresse, we have reviewed many of the devices on the market and only recommend those that meet the clinical and prescription strength proven to work in studies on low level laser therapy. Our practitioners will not only make sure you are getting the best possible device, but they will ensure that low level laser therapy is the best possible treatment for your hair loss.

You can rest assured knowing that when you go to Medi Tresse for your hair loss concerns, you have gone to the right place and that we have the right knowledge and experience to treat your hair loss.
