Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Promote and Maintain Hair Growth Using Natural Growth Factors

The platelets in our blood play a natural role in the body’s recovery process. Through the use of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, we can address hair loss and give you healthier, thicker hair!
The platelets in our blood play a natural role in the body’s recovery process. Through the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, you can finally have the healthy, thick hair you have always wanted. Our procedure relies on platelet-rich portions of blood filled with growth factors to safely and naturally stimulate regeneration and recovery, which we can use to effectively treat Androgenic Alopecia (Female Pattern Hair Loss), Alopecia Areata, and Traction Alopecia.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, or PRP Therapy, has been used for more than 20 years to encourage healing and regeneration in those suffering from hair loss. Many medical treatments rely on it to assist patients in recovery after injury. At Medi Tresse, we can use therapeutic injections of platelet-rich plasma to address female hair loss.

The injections do more than just strengthen hairs that are already present. With this treatment, we can use the natural physical recovery process to reactivate dormant follicles and heal them at a cellular level. PRP Therapy is a safe procedure with many studies confirming its capacity to help with both male and female hair loss.

Here are a few takeaways of platelet rich plasma therapy, a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses and amplifies your body’s own natural growth factors.
PRP Therapy is a non-surgical treatment that we can complete right here in our offices.
During PRP Therapy, we take a small amount of your blood and isolate platelets and growth factors.
The concentrated plasma is injected into the scalp, where it stimulates follicle repair and recovery while strengthening hairs.
Your procedure can be completed in less than one hour.
PRP therapy involves three treatments (one treatment per month).
Booster treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months to maintain benefit.

While new growth typically occurs after three to six months, it can take up to a year to see the maximum benefit of PRP Therapy. Many patients do see new growth sooner than this.
We recommend single booster treatments every 6 to 12 months to maintain optimal results.

We understand you may have questions about platelet rich plasma therapy and if it’s right for you, so we welcome you to book your consultation online or call us at one of our many convenient locations. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy FAQ

What is platelet rich plasma?

PRP is plasma containing a high concentration of platelets. While platelets are commonly associated with clotting, they also play a role in mending and strengthening damaged tissues by increasing growth factors at the site.

How does PRP therapy help with hair loss?

Platelet rich plasma has been shown to both strengthen your hair and reactivate dormant follicles. The treatments repair at a cellular level to help patients regain thicker, healthier hair and growth from follicles that had previously stopped producing hairs.

How does PRP therapy work?

PRP Hair Regrowth Therapy utilizes the natural growth factors and stem cells in your body by isolating the platelet rich portion of your blood. From there, it assists your body in wound healing and cell regeneration. This concentration of platelets and growth factors is up to 10x greater than normal through PRP treatment.

Because of the increased tissue renewal and other growth factors, PRP injections stimulate new hair growth by reactivating dormant follicles and healing the follicle at a cellular level, resulting in healthier, thicker hair.

Is PRP Therapy Safe?

PRP injections are considered to be safe when performed by a trained medical provider such as those at Medi Tresse. While limited, mild risks and side effects can include pain, scalp tenderness, itching, swelling, redness, headaches, and temporary hair shedding.

Does PRP therapy work better for certain types of hair loss?

Most research on PRP for hair loss has been centered around treating androgenic alopecia, the most common cause of hair thinning and loss in women. Evidence suggests PRP works best when combined with other treatments, such as Low Level Laser Therapy, topical minoxidil or oral finasteride.

How long does it take for PRP therapy to work?

It takes about three months to see optimal results and know whether you will need additional sessions to achieve the ideal outcome. Studies show PRP can greatly increase hair count and hair density within the first three months of treatment. Once you have achieved ideal growth, regular treatments once or twice a year can help maintain it.
Is All Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy the Same?

Is All Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy the Same?

There are no standard protocols for PRP therapy and there are actually more than 10 vital aspects to the treatment that can vary between practices. This means the treatment is going to be very different depending on where you get it. At Medi Tresse, we have performed more than 7,000 PRP treatments since 2015 and utilized protocols based on years of research and experience.

Is it best to get PRP Therapy from a hair restoration expert?

While PRP therapy is offered at many practices and medspas, the most important part of the treatment is making sure it is appropriate for your type of hair loss and goals of treatment. A hair loss expert, like the ones at Medi Tresse, will first determine the type of hair loss that you are experiencing and then create a customized treatment plan that may or may not include PRP therapy. While PRP therapy is great for many types of hair loss, it is not the best option for all of them.
