Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma Can Strengthen Hair And Encourage New Growth Using Natural Growth Factors

The platelets in our blood play a natural role in the body’s recovery process. Through the use of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, we can address hair loss and give you healthier, thicker hair!
Our procedure relies on platelet-rich portions of blood to safely and naturally stimulate regeneration and recovery, which we can use to effectively treat Androgenic Alopecia (Female Pattern Hair Loss), Alopecia Areata, and Traction Alopecia.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, or PRP Therapy, has been used for more than twenty years to encourage healing and regeneration. Many medical treatments rely on it to assist patients in recovery after injury. At Medi Tresse, we can use therapeutic injections of platelet-rich plasma to address female hair loss. The injections do more than just strengthen hairs that are already present. With this treatment, we can use the natural physical recovery process to reactivate dormant follicles and heal them at a cellular level. PRP Therapy is a safe procedure with many studies confirming its capacity to help with both male and female hair loss.

PRP Therapy is a non-surgical treatment that we can complete at our offices. During PRP Therapy, we take a small amount of your blood and isolate platelets and growth factors. The concentrated plasma is injected into the scalp, where it stimulates follicle repair and recovery while strengthening hairs. Your procedure can be completed in less than one hour.

The procedure involves three treatments, scheduled at one treatment per month. New growth will typically occur after three to six months; it can take up to one year for a patient to see the maximum benefit of PRP Therapy, although many patients will see new growth sooner than this.

Single booster treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months to maintain optimal results.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy FAQ

What Is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?

With the use of platelet rich plasma, we can both strengthen your hair and reactivate dormant follicles. The treatments lead to repair at a cellular level to help patients regain thicker, healthier hair and growth from follicles that had previously stopped producing hairs.

How Does PRP Therapy Work?

PRP Hair Regrowth Therapy utilizes the natural growth factors and stem cells in your body by isolating the platelet rich portion of your blood. From there, it assists your body in wound healing and cell regeneration. This concentration of platelets and growth factors is up to ten times greater than normal through PRP treatment.

Because of the increased tissue renewal and other growth factors, PRP injections stimulate new hair growth by reactivating dormant follicles and healing the follicle at a cellular level, resulting in healthier, thicker hair.

How Long Has PRP Therapy Been Around?

Platelet Rich Plasma therapy has been around for over 20 years. It is used for its wound healing capabilities in various medical specialties including cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, sports medicine, dermatology and other medical specialties. PRP was first utilized to treat hair loss in 2004, however it is not until recently that studies have shown its full potential in treating hair loss.

Is PRP Therapy Safe?

PRP is very safe and has limited side effects. In every study completed for the use of PRP as a treatment for hair loss there has never been any significant negative side effects found.

Is There Research On PRP Therapy For Hair Loss?

Several studies have shown PRP Therapy to be an effective treatment for addressing hair loss. You can see details of studies performed to gauge the effectiveness of PRP Therapy below:
