Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy
Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy is the most advanced treatment available for female hair loss and exclusively offered at Medi Tresse. Utilizing the most cutting-edge tools available, the staff at Medi Tresse is able to customize the treatment for each patient and inject an optimal number of platelets into the scalp to ensure blood vessel and hair restoration. During the treatment, the staff will run a test of your blood to determine your baseline platelet count at the time of treatment, which will allow us to generate a final solution with the optimal platelet concentration necessary for hair restoration. Medi Tresse is one of the first practices in the country that can truly customize your platelet concentration.
How is Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy different from Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy?
Over the last two years we have seen an increase in offerings of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, however there is no consistent protocol. Unfortunately, through this confusion, patients are led to believe that all PRP is the same. Over the last 12 months, the staff at Medi Tresse vigorously tested many of the top systems to determine platelet counts and platelet recovery counts for each system. We were surprised at how varied the systems were. However, Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy is not just about using the top available system, as the next step is the most important. On the day of treatment, we will test your blood using our in-office platelet counter to determine your baseline count in real time. We will then customize your final platelet solution so that it contains the optimal platelet concentration for hair restoration. We are one of the first hair loss practices in the country with this capability.
Will Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy work for me?
Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy is effective for the treatment of Androgenic Alopecia (Female Pattern Hair Loss) and Traction Alopecia. In some cases we have also had success treating Alopecia Areata and Scarring Alopecia.
Why Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy?
- We are providing optimal platelet concentrations for angiogenesis (blood vessel repair)
- We are customizing the treatment specific to you instead of providing a standard treatment
- Stops hair loss, thickens existing hairs, and reactivates dormant follicles to regrow
Frequently Asked Questions
How many treatments are necessary?
For the initial course of treatment, we recommend one treatment a month for three treatments. At the 12-month mark, we would recommend a booster treatment every 6 to 12 months to maintain results.
Is Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy the same as PRP Therapy?
No. While OPC™ Therapy uses some of the principles of PRP Therapy (i.e. spinning down your blood and separating off the platelet rich plasma), unlike PRP, OPC™ is customized to each patient and is based on providing a specific number of platelets per ML to the affected area.
I recently had my labs completed at my doctor’s office and received a platelet count, can we use that as the baseline platelet count?
No. The platelet counts in your body are constantly changing. What makes Optimal Platelet Concentration™ Therapy so powerful is that we determine your platelet count at the time of treatment to guarantee that we are providing the optimal platelet concentration for treatment.
How do you know what the optimal platelet concentration is?
Research has shown that between 1.4 billion and 1.6 billion platelets per ML of blood is the optimal concentration level needed for angiogenesis, which is the development of new blood vessels. For best hair restoration results, we not only want to repair the hair follicles, but we want to repair the blood vessels around the follicles to provide key nutrients for hair health.
How do your guarantee I am receiving the optimal platelet concentration?
Using the most cutting-edge tools available, we are able to get accurate platelet counts of both the whole blood and spun down platelet solution to ensure the patient is receiving the optimal platelet concentration. Based on the counts at the time of treatment, the staff will ensure the platelet solution is within the optimal range.
